Glasgow council orders 320 Polo BlueMotion vehicles

This is the largest order to date for the Polo BlueMotion: 320 Polos have been ordered by Glasgow, Scotland city council. The vehicles were judged on parameters including fuel efficiency, viability for every day use, comfort and value for money and are destined for everyday council work. This Polo version manages to get 73 mpg UK (61 mpg U.S.) with a 1.4 liter TDI (diesel) engine that uses piezo-electric injection, a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), aerodynamical improvements and low-rolling resistance tires. Emitting just 99 g/km of CO2, the vehicle fits into the Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) band 'A' and is therefore exempt from road tax.
