VIDEO: $10,000 electric car coming this year?

Driving a Ford-branded Th!nk Neighbor (NEV) around Pasadena wasn't good enough for Bill Provence. He wanted more speed, more safety and a little more protection from the elements. So, he did what any of us would do and teamed up some engineering and manufacturing friends in Michigan and built his own dream car. What? You don't have engineering and manufacturing friends in Michigan? Well, it appears you may be in luck because in a video telling us about his new sealed AGM lead acid battery-powered vehicle, Bill mentions that he's planning on building more to sell to those of us less well connected.
Potentially operating under the company name, Pure Electric Vehicles, Mr.Provence wants to offer his three-wheeler this Fall for a base price of $9,999. For that price he evens plans to throw in a radio, an iPod "connection" and a heater! Although we don't know what kind of range the EV has, it is claimed to go 65 mph. Bill says he will being making some more videos and posting them on YouTube to keep the world informed of his progress. Hopefully that progress includes windows. Hit the jump to see his machine in motion.

It's not a $10k car, its a motorcycle.

Headlights? Tail lights? Turn signals?
And it is technically a motorcycle in California.
I'll wait for an Aptera.

bull$%^#! This is pure crap. Anyone can put a video on YouTube and make outlandish claims. Where are all the lights? Does that thing even have glass in the windows, does not look like it. Nice how there are absolutly no specifics or specs. Any credible EV would mention range and speed. Without those two numbers everything else is stupid.

You know guys, I don't see Detroit coming out with a pure electric car next year. The technology exists and we are being forced to drive these gas guzzling, polluting vehicles that make OPEC richer by the day. Where is our highway capable reasonably priced electric car? It takes entrepreneurs like Bill to get the ball rolling. Ford and GM are asleep at the wheel. America wants a Pure Electric Car. I know I do. I agree it needs some development, but we have to start somewhere. Go Bill!

One thing that people keep forgetting - most especially this bozo - is the net energy effect. How much pollution is being produced to generate the electricity to charge the battery - no matter the source - unless he is using photovoltaic generation.
EVERYTHING else has a net CO2 effect - period. Well, HHO may but to produce usable quantities of HH you need to use electricity - once again net effect.
there are other solutions - this is not one of them. Nice try.

@kakapo: thanks for representing the "dirty electricity is the Devil" camp... it wouldn't be a normal day on ABG without you and your kind. Did it ever occur to you that 100 EV's running off "dirty" electricity is going to pollute a fraction of what 100 conventional cars would?
The world isn't going to be emissions-free tomorrow - stop perpetuating your "all-or-nothing" approach and at least give this guy a nod for trying... all in all, it's still one less tailpipe on the road.
How much pollution did your PC produce by 'net effect' while you typed up your rebuke... or have you invented an off-grid computer? If so, post a video on YouTube.

The Pure Electric Vehicle is a reality and I know so for a fact... I am assisting in Building them right now as we speak, so they WILL be on the market very soon and the price IS $10,000. Accessories are extra though... $10,000 is base model price.
We are also working with others to create different body styles for those who may be in the mood for something more flashy.
