Man falls in love with his Xingyue enclosed scooter

A Michigan man has found his own personal solution to high gas prices in an interesting three-wheeled enclosed scooter which leans into turns from a Chinese company known as Xingyue. Before this story, we were not at all familiar with the company, though a Google search does turn up a little information. Powered by a 150cc single cylinder four stroke engine, the scooter is capable of traveling on any road that is not a major highway and is fully street legal. The new owner estimates that he is getting fuel mileage of around 120 miles per gallon when he keeps it under forty miles per hour and 80-90 miles per gallon when he's really wringing it out.
This machine appears to be some sort of copy of the Honda Gyro. Though we tend to shy away from unknown Chinese scooters, reputable brands like Piaggio, Vespa and Yamaha have appeared on these pages in the past. The enclosure of the Xingyue allows a slightly longer riding season for those who live in areas with poor weather much of the year. See a video of the machine in action here.

They are slowly being imported into the US under names such as "Vogue", "Tri-Fecta", and perhaps "Euro 150"; but difficult to locate. There is even an internet forum started for enthausists; -- http://flytheroadnow.com/batforum --
One of these might just be the 'answer' for some to the rising fuel prices, until the next generation of hybrid/EV cars come on-line. Especially, if it will 'pay-for-itself' in fuel savings.

Hello! this a very nice scooter. I´m from Brazil and i´m sending e-mail to xingyue for 2 months, and i haven´t received any answer so far. I want to buy one, but they simpley don´t want to sell it.
If I receive any answer on how it´s possible to buy it, i´ll post it here.
And if someone wants to help me, please email me.

My wife and I bought two of the 3-wheeled xingyue scooters, We love them. For a better ride change the non dampening stock shock for one that has built in dampening. This will cure the bounce you get at about fourty MPH.

More cheap Chinese crap. Read any scooter forum you want. See how many people have problems with the stuff coming in from China: reliability, quality, no factory support, NO spare parts, no warranty to speak of (meaning they won't fix squat) -- just lots of folks trying to make a quick buck. Now, having said that maybe these are WAY different... it could happen. I recommend letting the other guy try it first. Cool looking (beautiful plumage, but the bird is dead).

It is not all as you say. Any reputable chinese scooter dealer will carry parts. When I find that parts maybe difficult I buy extra units and "strip" them for needed parts until my order comes in. This keeps a customer from waiting months. Also, many parts warehouses have opened recently shipping in only parts for the scooters. Unfortunately many "side of the road" dealers are only in it for a buck. Ask to see the repair shop and talk to other customers. We at Chair City Motorsports understand the importance of how hard it is to earn money. Why throw it away on a product that may only last 6 months. We sell, service and warranty our products. Shop first.

why can't the scooter companies make a reverse three wheel trike totoly enclosed and climate controled cheaply . people are doing it . in 1980 there was the "Hmv Freeway", recently there have been "the corbin sparrow" , " the Raven" , " the Zap Alias", " the Velorex"...if you search for them on the internet or on Youtube you will see them...... The Hmv Freeway was a simple design..... some of these are electric and some are gas that ive listed . but I want a a scooter that i can stay warm in the winter cool in the summer and dry at all times. and i think anyone who drives a scooter would pay twice or 3times as much for this simple comfort.

This is an update to my previous post. We still love our three wheel scooter but, after owning two of them for almost a year we know the problems with chinese quality. Every bolt that can come loose will. We removed and put locktight on most bolts. Any bolts that didn't come loose were tightened to the point of thread damage. The rear brake switch came apart. The turn signals quit working. A body panel was missing screws and started to come apart. The windshield has a defect ripple in my field of vision and I can not find a replacement. The center pivot does not come greased it is dry so you need to grease it. None of the cables ( brake, throttle, parking ) show any sign of ever being oiled. Do not use rain X on the lexan windshield. The alcohol in it will cause hair line cracking, and so far I have not been able to locate one stock part. Even the company that makes these in china did not answer my email. Not one dealer that sells this scooter has even responded to a request for parts. If you have problems with yours, email me ( webhix@comcast.net ). I know more than the dealer who sold it to me about them
