Martin Eberhard's Tesla Roadster repaired and ready for delivery?
Well, after at least one false alarm last week, it now appears that Martin's Roadster has been repaired. Of course, it is still impossible to say for sure, at least until we get an official update from either Tesla Motors or Martin himself, but a picture of what certainly appears to be Martin's distinctive Roadster was supposedly taken just yesterday, Friday July 18, and uploaded directly from the iPhone it was taken on to Flickr by user marliemars. The car appears to be damage free, though only a single side-profile is available. In any case, it appears as if the ongoing saga of the protracted delivery of the second Tesla Roadster ever produced may soon come to an end. Martin, we're sure you'll love your new car. We are, of course, waiting anxiously to hear if you've gotten a delivery date yet, and even more so to hear about your first drive. Thanks for the tip, Joseph!

Too bad that they weren't magnanimous enough to hand the keys over to him at the new Menlo Park store today. Regardless, just imagine how thrilled he must be to finally possess the car he set out to create so many years ago.

THERE'S A NEW INVENTION THAT'LL REFORM THE HEAVY TRUCK TRANSPORT SECTOR PROFOUNDLY !
It will reduse Greenhouse gas emissions by billions of tons - every day !!!!!!
Since nobody here on ABG seem to care about anything than their money - saving $$ on gas - you can rejoice in the fact that this invention will save any contractor over $ 100.000 every year !!!

As for the destructive case of mental 'Tesla-ism' and associated airy-fairy perception of oddities from the west-coast fish pond -
- I pray every day : "Let there be a cure !"
Outside your little CA. box of cereal there's a growing arguing against the "EVs are just toys for the rich", and
"I'm never going to buy such a puny two-seater for that kind of money just to be stranded at the roadside"
And so that "leaven is leavening the whole lump" -
the obsession is becoming counterproductive and is interfering w the worldwide transfer to EVs and sustainable energy.

EV-1: take it easy, please. Nobody at Tesla promised to deliver a transportation panacea in a 5 year time-frame. This is a first big step, a milestone.

If the problem today is an image that "EVs are just toys for the rich", I think that's a big improvement over how they were seen before Tesla came along. Then it tended to be more like, "EVs are golf carts", or "EVs are a proven failure".

"Toys for the rich" is the label that was applied not that long ago to cell phones, big screen TVs, computers, VCRs' and microwave ovens.
All of those products are now commonplace. For an EVs to be regarded as a "toy for the rich" is very good progress indeed.

if they shamelessly and perpetually promotes this icon,

Bottom line
There's a severe disproportion in the blogposts re
"That" brand vs. other more urgent issues.
That fact is disturbing the general debate on transportation.
That's an extensive loss, since
politicians and people at influencial positions regularly
"measure the temp out there" by checking sites like ABG

Wetting your pants over some boy-dream sports roadster isn't being serious on the transport problem.

This blog covers "green cars" and other eco-friendly transportation, so why shouldn't it cover the most important new electric car company in 80 years? Besides, the entries on Tesla are just a small percentage of the Autoblog Green posts, heck, it's just a small portion of the EV coverage!
I sense a degree of jealousy in your posts. You can't afford a Tesla Roadster, so you take a "sour grapes" point of view and put it down. You also put down California as you're not fortunate enough to live in that beautiful state.
But worst of all, we're ignoring your wonderful "invention that'll reform the heavy truck transport sector". Excuse me, you haven't given us a clue as to what your wonderous invention is supposed to be or how it's supposed to work, so how can we make any comment on it, let alone make any post on it? Of course, you're not going to tell us any details, as you're afraid someone will steal your marvelous invention, - but that also means you can't get any promotion or sales. You've got yourself caught in a bind, there, buddy.

They don't have to listen. Tesla's a private company, they've sold out the roadster, and when a lower priced model comes out, It'll sell out too. other car companies will have to twist and turn like crazy to adapt, or go out of business.
This is beyond governmental scope, unless they are dumb and crazy enough to outlaw electric cars or regulate it to death on some stupid, death-throes-twitch from the oil industry lobby.
Great thing about capitalism is that. The toys-for-the-rich pay for the costs to mass produce the toys-for-the-middle-class and so on to toys-for-everyone. Bitching about it won't change a thing.
