Go-Ped goes farther with lithium ion battery option

When you hear the brand "Go-Ped" mentioned it may bring to mind a cool stand-up scooter with a tiny buzzy two-stroke engine powering the rear wheel and that is indeed the type of vehicle that Patmont Motor Werx has been best known for these past 24 years. However, since 2004 they have been producing electric versions of their minimalist transporters that take full advantage of the Go-Ped platform with its unique Cantilevered Independent Dynamic Linkless Indespension (C.I.D.L.I.) suspension system. Although the range of 12 miles with lead-acid batteries is good enough to make some of us at ABG wish one would magically appear in his garage (Mom?), the company has just added a lithium ion battery option that makes they scooters lighter and go much farther.
How much lighter and how much farther? Well, with the 4 li-ion pack option you can get up to 28 miles in economy mode which makes the machine weigh in at 48 lbs. (The lead acid version is 67 lbs.) That's far enough to get most people to work or school and light enough to fold and carry up a flight of stairs if you have to. Top speed is 20 mph and this baby can climb some hills. If you don't like standing on your scooter there is a seat available, as well as a basket. For bigger loads they even have a "Go-Wagon" available. Unfortunately, they don't give them away for free and this made-in-America scooter runs between $1,006.88 and $2,998 depending on the model and battery option. While not cheap, hopefully they prove the adage, "You get what you pay for." Bonus video after the break.

this is laughable... $3k for 16 miles at 20mph? and the thing isn't even water proof.

Yes the price is a joke. You can get a car for that! Goped marketing people and people that pay for it need their heads examined .

Not a non-polluting one.
Or one that you could carry into your apartment.
Or one that could be paired with public transportation for motorized transport at both ends of the trip.

Goped makes a fine quality bulletproof scooter and should be commended for quietly innovating with REAL product. They should, however, offer a NIMH option as a middle of the road ($1,500 option).

The price is depends on the product which you have to select. The Li-Ion battery technology offers much greater battery capacity, corresponding to increased range. This battery technology is not harmful for environment. The Li-Ion versions also operate on a slightly higher voltage, so in combination with less. This technology is on the very cutting edge and, unfortunately does not come cheap. Therefore, we are offering different Li-Ion battery pack options to best suit an individual’s needs. The different options affect the range, weight, charge time, battery cycle life, and cost. Current Moves is proud to offer Li-ion technology on Go-Ped electric scooter. The Go-Ped is a clean, quiet, lightweight electric powered scooter that will surprise you with its power and versatility.

The Li-Ion battery technology brings the new revolution in the nowadays market. The Li-Ion technology is on the cutting edge and offering different battery pack options for individuals needs. For this options affect the range, weight, charge time, battery cycle life, and cost. Lithium Ion batteries promise to make scooters almost as lightweight as a briefcase and definitely lighter weight than other batteries. Although scooter manufacturers don’t quite have them that light yet, the trend is definitely lighter. Recently Go-Ped introduced the lithium ion technology. Go-Ped recently took their ESR750 electric scooter and improved upon the design by adding lithium ion batteries. The new batteries are half the weight and put out double the power, which will give you more for your money. Go-Peds have been available for years, but their weight makes them less commuter friendly and more of a motorized toy.
