Toyota Aygo follows its PSA siblings with a 2009 facelift

We already showed you the refreshed 2009 versions of the Peugeot 107 and Citroën C1 earlier this week. Those two A-segment mini cars are part of a joint venture between PSA and Toyota that also produces the Toyota-branded Aygo. Like its siblings, the Aygo will get a facelift for the new year. Also like the French-branded cars, the Aygo primarily gets a somewhat bolder looking face than before. The new Aygo will get its official debut in December at the Bologna Motor Show in Italy at which time they will likely talk about other details that have changed. It's probably safe to assume that the Aygo will use the same 1.0L gas engine or 1.2L diesel that's under the diminutive hood of the 107 and C1.

AYGO 2009 to debut at the Bologna Motor Show
Italy, Europe's biggest A-segment market, will host the launch of the AYGO 2009 during the next Bologna Motor Show starting December 4. The AYGO has gone through a series of exterior design changes, giving the car an even more dynamic look.
After the new iQ, Urban Cruiser and the all-new Avensis launched at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, AYGO is the fourth Toyota model to benefit from the Toyota Optimal Drive technologies, aimed at decreasing fuel consumption and CO2 level with no compromise on driving pleasure.
The AYGO 2009 is part of an unprecedented Toyota product offensive, including a total of 13 new models, throughout the course of 2009.

Now, we'll have to wait to see whether Chinese automaker BYD follows suit with a refresh for its Aygo-clone, the F-1. They've had no shame about design piracy thus far... why not?

As far as I know, Toyota have discontinued the diesel varient of the Aygo, because it was well known that the diesel was a PSA diesel and it wasn't selling well in the Aygo.
After all, who wants a Toyata with a french diesel engine in it....
