Fisker sets up shop in Detroit

In a rare bit of good news for Detroit these days, Fisker Automotive is planning to set up shop in Pontiac, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. It makes sense for the emerging automaker to have its engineering location near the automotive capitol of the United States, considering that there is a huge number of skilled engineers and designers already in the area just looking for a good job. Plus, most of the auto suppliers are either based in or have satellite locations in suburban Detroit. Fisker's 34,000 square-foot location is expected to employ around 200 workers, 130 of which have already been hired.
In a surprising move, Henrik Fisker, the company's founder and CEO, has said that his automaker has yet to discuss any incentives from the Detroit-area lawmakers. We'd expect those talks to take place, as the Detroit suburban areas have made deals with other automakers already and are eager to have new businesses take up residence.

I wish them luck. With the Tesla Model S delayed, GM in trouble (& thus the future of the Volt in question), looks like the number of EVs/PHEVs coming out in the 2009-2010 timeframe is thinning.

Thats good news. I hope they work on an affordable PHEV as well.
Thats a pretty small area for that many people if its just office space thats okay but if they have a few CNC machines there that would suck.
For a small producer like them i think a wise investor would be in a CNC die press those things are amazing.

This car will probably vanish in the rain before hitting the market and customers buying that. It's a wrong concept from the start. What it need for an electric car architecture is the technology needed if society collapse and become like the one in the Mad Max II movies, your car will need to serve for everything includind shelter and transport devise. They need to install a powerful electrical generator fueled by multi-fuels and when you are at rest the generator continu to work for you and can power a stove, heating, radios, computers, sattellite. All that are running on electricity. With this concept fisker don't do nothing new for customers and when the limp battery will be depleted then you will be stuck on the side of the roads with tons of freaks wanted to rob you of your last goods.
