Ford launches micro-site for 2011 US Fiesta
We're still a bit more than a year away from getting Ford's new Fiesta here in North America but the company has launched a micro-site for its new small car. There are downloadable images of the Fiesta and some details of the equipment that will be included on the American version. While Europeans have a variety of engine choices, it appears that we in the states will only get a 1.6L four cylinder with variable valve timing. The Fiesta will be the first US-market Ford with the PowerShift dual clutch transmission. Ford promises to keep the European-tuned suspension when the car arrives here. Production should start just over a year from now with an on-sale date early in 2010. Those interested in getting updates can sign up at the site or just keep reading ABG.

I'm getting on day one if they offer the 2-door hatch. Otherwise, no sale. This is will be replacing my 05 ZX3 Focus. Hot hatch here, or hit the highway. >:)

This is coming two years too late. They need something to compete as a high mpg economical car area currently dominated by toyota and honda.

Wait a second, Ford is still going to be in business come 2011? They have a better chance than GM and Chrysler, but I won't be holding my breath. I can always pick up a Versa for under $10k today anyways... I loved my "can't be killed" 1996 200SX.. enough to get two of em. Ford better do this right if they hope to actually sell it.

If this gets one of those STUPID 3-bar chrome grills, the entire FoMoCo US design staff is going to get it shoved up their collective ***es! Sideways.
And yes, I've seen the concepts with the 2-bar grill. Can we just say "no" to the Gillette look?

The translation will be minimal. Ford has committed to not changing the looks or the ride and handling. The only real difference will be the engine.

Actually the wait is only about 18 months. The fiesta is launching in Europe now and here in early 2010

We already have this car in Denmark, went to see at the ford dealership yestoday. Its very nice inside soft touch plastics, a nice interiour and the manuel transmission have a nice shift feel to it, and looks great, didn't drive it though, but i think this car is going to be a big Hit.
