50 MINI E vehicles bound for Berlin
Did you think that MINI would leave Germany without a MINI E test? No way. Perhaps because SMART is doing something similar, Berlin is going to get 50 MINI E vehicles for testing. MINI has partnered with Swedish energy company Vattenfall so that the electricity powering these cars will be "certified green," that is, produced from renewable sources of energy. The test is set to start in April after the infrastructure is set up. The project is funded by the Technical University of Chemnitz, TU Berlin with scientific support from the Technical University of Ilmenau. The program also includes a look at how how the electricity demands of these cars is distributed, which allows Vattenfall Europe to manage the electric network to divert its "clean energy" that is obtained from wind turbines.

Vattenfall, aren't they the ones that use coal and nuclear power? "Certified green" - I know what that means: Let's just label all the hydro-power we have anyways for regulating peak-demand "green" and then we don't need to change a thing. It's easy to deceit the public.
Vattenfall has a reputation of a polluter. They are definitely not green. It seems as they are happy to supply the coming electric car wave with coal energy. Only the first thousand cars will get green energy ... after that, they are "constrained" to switch to coal.
...I admit I'm focussing on the negative here :-)
