The seven cars Fiat might give Chrysler

We recently made our own list of five cars we want to see from the Chrysler/Fiat alliance and we've since heard that the 500 is a contender for 2010 U.S. release. Automotive News (subs req'd) is reporting that there are a full seven models that will soon come to North America thanks to the partnership, and they're all small to mid-sized vehicles. Here are the details:
- Two minicars, a Fiat 500 3-door hatchback and a 5-door hatch version of the next-gen Panda
- Two subcompact vehicles, the Alfa Romeo MiTo and a Chrysler-branded model
- Two compacts, a model that uses Fiat's C-Evo platform (maybe replacing the Dodge Caliber) and a Alfa Romeo 147 replacement
- One mid-sized vehicle, a Sebring/Avenger replacement from Fiat's C-Evo platform
This all makes a lot of sense for Chrysler, which doesn't have enough small car models to sell in the upcoming high-mpg world. What would Fiat get? Perhaps the Journey CUV and the Dodge Dakota pickup to sell in Latin America, easier access to the North American market, and an engine or two. A final decision should be made by the end of April, so don't count any of this as official just yet.

Two problems:
First, the link is incorrect...
Second, after fixing the link address, I get to automotive news which asks me to login.

Fiat gets access to US distributors and contracts the use of idled plants/labor to construct US spec models for Fiat and Alfa.

I was saddened to read (at another site) that there are (tentative?) plans to slowly (?) kill off the Jeep Patriot and replace it with a Fiat Panda with the "Jeep Look" ! I like Fiat (had a new '71 850 Coupe) but the Panda is, frankly, ugly. Much rather see a slightly restyled (lighter) Patriot with the new Fiat engine technology and its better mileage . . . ARE YOU LISTENING CHRYSLER/FIAT GROUP ? I would sadly, but gladly trade in my '03 Ram 1500 for this (my) version of Patriot in 2011 ! ANY vehicle by Chrysler/Fiat Group made in China would be a NO SALE for me . . . Ciao baby !

Chrysler/ Fiat seems to be "worried" about all the FAT Americans and the Size of Fiat/Alfa cars . . . TIME is a-wastin' and getting some of those vehicles HERE in showrooms by mid-2010 with whatever slight emissions modifications necessary to "comply" should be the short term goal ! Those Fiat's and Alfa's slated for the USA market ARE "sexy" good looking vehicles for the American men AND women that would BUY them in the first place ie, the NOT so obese ones ! When you understand this simple fact, then you can move forward and succeed sooner rathe than maybe never ! Good Luck Chrysler, I'm on your side . . . Ciao baby
