Chrysler studying Fiat's 6-speed gearbox

One of the first consequences of the Chrysler-Fiat alliance could be the arrival of Fiat's new six-speed transmission in Chrysler models. Chrysler lost its dual-clutch partner Getrag, which was developing a next-gen dual clutch transmission, so Fiat's unit, still under development, is likely to arrive statewide. At least this is what Frank Klegon, Chrysler LLC's executive vice president of product development, speculated about during the recent Chicago Auto Show. Called G365, Fiat's new transmission comes in three flavors: manual, automated manual and dual-clutch. The manual version will debut in Europe next June, the dual-clutch version at year's end and the automated manual in the first half of 2010.

Its a shame that Gerty is backing away from Dodge/Nissan on this deal.
Its tough to blame them though with sales of the DCTD Ram in the outhouse and bumming money from taxpayers says He-ewge credit risk.
The NV4500 was a capable transmission,it just shook the keeper nut loose from the top gear shaft at high speeds if overloaded, just a drop of loc-tite costing a few pennies would have saved millions in warranty work.
The other incident that ruined the DCTD was the Bosch VP-44 injector pump,if You see what seems like a sweetheart deal on 1998-2002 Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel,Run don't walk around the house three times spit over Your shoulder, mumble bread n' butter till You reach a transcendental state.
Don't laugh,or the bad luck juju may follow you to the next car You will own and have fueling problems 'O plenty.
