VIDEO: Fisker runs first Karma TV ads in LA

One thing that we haven't seen from any of the startup green car makers to date is traditional television advertising. That's partly because most of these companies are operating on minimal budgets and what money they do have is being dedicated to trying to get their vehicles on the road. Fisker Automotive is a different case. With a star designer at the helm and venture capital cash in the bank (for now at least), the fledgling manufacturer has begun running its first TV spots. The initial ads appeared on local Los Angeles stations last week. If a company like Fisker is going to advertise, LA would be the place to do it. The area is home to large numbers of high dollar, high performance cars and plenty of environmentally aware people with money (or it did until about six months ago). These are precisely the people to whom a car like the Karma would appeal. With a goal of 15,000 sales a year, Fisker is going to have its work cut out finding buyers in in this economy. Watch the ad after the jump.

Nice to get a sneak peek at Fisker's design studio/process. I heard Mr. Fisker speak at my college (his alma mater, Art Center College of Design), and he is one confident individual and a shameless self-promoter...which you need to be in order to get a start-up going.
Another EV manufacturer, Bad Boy Buggies, has been running television commercials on ESPN 2 and The Outdoor Channel for a couple of years- watch some of them here http://www.badboybuggies.com/video.htm. What do you think of the use of the professional hunters in that one commercial? :)

I noticed that all start-up compagnies are not sure of their mechanical concept so they work very slowly and are ashame of putting that on the market because they are afraid of making a mistake about their choice of technology. Just imagine someone putting on the market a cheap car powered by water, what these chaps will say thereafter to their paying consumers. That's why all these compagnies are stopping their brains and don't use it for themself and for others . All that is coming out of their mouth is no nonsence and stupidities and they wait that jesus coming from the sky will fix their brains in one minutes and them will have nothing to do whatsoever. I noticed that when the toyota president said 2 years ago they he will build a car able to move from new-york to los-angeles while cleaning the air and since then have eat his own words and have giving the task to jesus while him lie to himself and all the rest of the universe about his past wish. Since then i still need to buy unnessary petrol and the rest of toyota consumers too.

You're being critical of those auto companies because they aren't bothering to make a water powered car? But Gorr, you haven't made one, either! They have an excuse, they don't believe it can be done so they are not going to waste time trying, but what is your excuse, Gorr, you believe in that nonsense!

Are they advertising a car or a community technical college?
