Xof1 (Power of One) solar car sets new distance record, reaches LA

We've kept you informed about the progress of the Xof1, also known as "The Power of 1," since the vehicle left Buffalo, NY last June (remember the UFO incident?). The original plan was to go from Buffalo, NY to Inuvik, NT (up in the Artic Circle) and back, but the trip has now been extended. But, we just got news that they've made it to Los Angeles, CA, putting the total trip odometer at over 12,500 miles. Weighing in at about 660 lbs. (including the driver), the Xof1 solar car uses a 96 volt brushless DC motor with a 3.8 kW lithium-ion battery system that will bring the vehicle from 0-60 in just 6 seconds. The team can't rest quite yet: the car is now heading to Washington, DC. There's a video after the jump.
