First Fisker Karma deliveries scheduled for mid-2010

When we spoke to Henrik Fisker in January about his company's plans to bring the Karma to market quickly, he said that they chose Finland's Valmet Automotive to produce the cars because "they are the only factory in the world that could meet our deadline to bring the car to market this year." Maybe so, but that doesn't mean that the cars will actually be delivered in 2009. While the first Karma plug-in hybrids will indeed be produced this year and Fisker was never totally clear when deliveries would take place, Fisker spokesman Russell Datz told Greentech Media that the first deliveries won't take place until May or June of 2010.

Datz also said that 1,400 people have ordered a Karma. Anyone placing an order now will have to wait until the second half of 2010 to drive their own Karma. We've asked Fisker for a confirmation or clarification of the delay, and will post a response when it arrives.

UPDATE: Datz confirmed to AutoblogGreen that, "As always, we are still scheduled to begin production toward the end of this year. Pre-production and prove-out vehicles will give way to customer cars toward early summer 2010."
