Pics Aplenty: second-gen smart ed goes extra green
Second generation smart ed - click above for high-res image gallery
To go along with yesterday's announcement that the second-generation smart ed will go into production in November, Daimler has released a bunch of new pics of the all-electric city car. Of particular interest are the reworked center-mounted dials, one of which now shows the battery state of charge in analog fashion and the other which shows the battery amps and the coiled charging cord. Everything else looks pretty much as it does in a standard fortwo.
The smart ed should have a range of just over 70 using its 14 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 30 kW electric. For more details on the smart ed and how it'll make it into customer hands, check out this post.

Is that supposed to say "...range of just over 70 MILES using its 14 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 30 kW electric MOTOR"? Or maybe it's 70 km?

@KK,
From the Daimler PR in the other post that this links to:
"a full battery charge costs approximately two euros and is sufficient for a range of around 115 kilometres", so yes 70 miles.
