SEMA 2009: Mavizen introduces 130-mph TTX02 electric racebike

Right on schedule, Mavizen has released its TTX02 electric motorcycle at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Well, if you listen to While all of that consumer electronics gadgetry is cool, it's the platform of the TTX02 that interests us the most. As rumored, it definitely appears that the TTX02 is based on the chassis of KTM's highly acclaimed RC8 superbike, which means it's a proven platform that's capable of solid handling and high speeds... good thing, as it's reportedly capable of hitting 130 miles per hour.
Twin Agni 95 electric motors push out a total of nearly 100 peak horsepower along with what's surely an admirable torque figure that peaks right off the bat at just about zero RPM. Three lithium ion battery packs will be made available with up to 11 kWh of power, which is reportedly capable of tackling all 38 miles of the TTXGP Isle of Man course. Pricing is not yet announced, but Hussain suggests a competitive machine can be had for around $40,000. Hit the jump to watch a couple videos of the bike's launch at SEMA.

38 miles? That sure doesn't seem like a lot especially for $40k!

38 miles at full throttle..... it'd likely get more like 100-150miles at highway speeds.

that what I what was thinking. I guess if 38 miles is good enough for racing that's fine. but I'd like to be able to get home too.

That 38 miles is without question the race speed range.
11,000 Wh / 38 miles = 289 Wh/mile
In our eBox we use about 250 Wh/mile, and there's nobody here who's going to tell me that the cDa of this bike is worse than that of our eBox.
At sane, commute-to-work speeds I would be surprised if you used more than 100 Wh/mile (I've hypermiled the eBox at 160 Wh/mile, the Aptera is supposed to be about 100 @ 60mph), giving the bike a range of something like 100 miles... which is a long way to go in a fetal position balanced on your balls if you're any older than 23.

LOL $40K. If you want performance, you buy gas powered bike. If you want an e-bike, you buy a Brammo Enertia. Looks cool though, nice work guys.

$40k isn't outrageous. A 250cc GP bike leases for around $250,000 a season, and that goes over a million if you want a factory-spec bike.
