Citroën C-Zero ready to be tested [w/VIDEO]

British and French motorists will be able to try the Citroën C-Zero before it goes on sale. Citroën has launched a website for interested drivers to ask for a test drive of the ~~badge-engineered~~ Mitsubishi-based car and to get all kinds of information about the model. As announced yesterday, the C-Zero is based on the Mitsubishi iMiEV and uses a standard European 220V plug to fill the batteries in about 6 hours. The website also offers up a nice video which you can watch right after the jump. It's in French, but the message is pretty obvious.

Mitsubishi should replicate this kind of exposure in this country. Surely they could manufacture, say, a couple dozen left-hand drive iMiEVs to show off in key states and cities. In that regard, Nissan is leapfrogging them with its barrage of PR for the Leaf. The biggest irony of all is that Nissan is obsessively engaged in setting up charging stations in its targeted areas, yet the iMiEV could just as easily use them! Why not take advantage of that windfall and spread some vanguard models around the country for show-and-tell?

A really interesting fact is that the iMIEV might run as Microcar with a power generator at very low cost saving expensive batteries.
So called kei cars which amount to a market share of 30% in Japan could undergo a greening this way...

I would love to carry a small Honda generator and a tank of lpg to charge it up. No duty here on off road lpg.
