Ever wonder what an X-ray image of an electric vehicle would reveal? No? Well, that's okay, 'cause, honestly, neither have we. Mitsubishi must think we're dying to know what such an image would expose, though and, to that end, released an X-ray scan of its battery-powered i-MiEV.
Frankly, there's just not much to see. That purplish rectangle in the center of the i-MiEV is its 440-pound lithium-ion battery pack and them green objects out back include the electric motor, the vehicle's inverter and its on-board charger. The rest consists of typical automotive stuff (i.e. driveshafts, suspension bits, a windshield wiper and so on).
What the image does show is that space seems to almost magically appear when an internal combustion engine is ripped out and replaced with an electric powertrain. Let's hear your thoughts on the X-rayed i-MiEV by dropping a comment below.
