Amp plug-in delivery vans

While extended-range plug-in truck maker Amp is based in Cincinnati, the company appears to be making more of an impact west of the Rockies, as the company just brought on former New Mexico governor and ex-US Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson on to its advisory board.

Richardson was governor of the Enchanted State from 2003 to 2011, where he boosted his green cred by getting New Mexico's utility companies to get 20 percent of their energy from renewable sources. That followed up his stint as US Energy Secretary under President Clinton from 1998 to 2011.

Last year, Amp said it was moving away from passenger-vehicle conversions and focusing on delivery-truck plug-in vehicle production. Last month, California approved the sale of Amp's 2014 model-year E100 heavy-duty electric trucks, which have a 19,500-pound payload and a 100-mile single-charge range. Amp's press release on adding Richardson to its ranks is below.

AMP Electric Vehicles Inc. Appoints Former US Secretary of Energy, and Former Governor of New Mexico, Bill Richardson to Advisory Board

Richardson brings global experience in environmental responsibility and strong clean/renewable energy perspectives to AMP Advisory Board.

Cincinnati, Ohio, March 19, 2013.
AMP Holding Inc. (OTCBB and OTCQB: AMPD), an OEM manufacturer of alternative fuel trucks, under the Workhorse® brand, announced today the addition of Bill Richardson, former Governor of New Mexico as the newest member of the Advisory Board of AMP Electric Vehicles.
As Governor, Richardson's bold governing style moved New Mexico forward in several important areas, including clean energy, education, public safety, environment, transportation, healthcare and $1 billion in tax cuts. His accomplishments include making New Mexico the "Clean Energy State" by requiring utilities to meet 20% of New Mexico's electrical demand from renewable sources; and established a Renewable Energy Transmission Authority to deliver New Mexico's world-class renewable resources to market.

"Bill brings extensive knowledge and a strong base of experience in the clean energy and transportation area," said Steve Burns, AMP CEO. "He is deeply respected for his environmentally-conscious accomplishments and insights, both nationally and internationally, and we feel AMP will benefit from this very special Advisory Board addition."

Richardson served for 15 years in northern New Mexico representing the 3rd Congressional District, and in 1997 served as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations under President Clinton. In 1998, he was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy.

"I am pleased to join AMP Electric Vehicle's Advisory Board," said Governor Bill Richardson. "In manufacturing Workhorse® alternative fuel trucks, AMP is a leader in the fleet EV category. I look forward to working with this industry pioneer to help accelerate the manufacturing and widespread use of new alternative fuel fleet vehicles."

AMP plans to produce Step-Vans and other vehicle types using the former Workhorse Custom Chassis plant in Union City, Indiana.
With the acquisition of the Workhorse® brand and factory facilities, AMP will be positioned to be the first truck OEM in the United States to offer a range of alternative fuel vehicles produced in an automated assembly plant. By offering an all-electric Workhorse® chassis along with gasoline-powered, and alternative-fuel powered models, AMP will become a premier OEM capable of building alternative fuel vehicles for the commercial market. AMP's vehicles will be sold and supported through the existing Workhorse® network of 440 dealers.
