Renault Twizy

If promoting a car's utility, convenience, economy and environmental friendliness doesn't do the trick, an automaker can always fall back on one strategy: cool factor. Renault, which along with sister company Nissan is trying to lead the charge towards battery-electric vehicle adoption, is looking to boost sales of its little-bitty Twizy EV by trying to appeal to France's legendary fashion sense by offering Twizy vehicles that can be custom-painted to represent certain towns that dot the Mediterranean.

For instance, Renault promotes a custom-painted red and white Twizy, which represents the colors of St. Tropez, as "the coolest ride on the road." Yes, the automaker talks about the car's tiny size (easier to park in crowded beach towns) and maneuverability on the old narrow roads, but the Twizy truly is a "must-have" because of its avant-garde styling.

Renault has been trying to boost Twizy sales by offering variants of the EV, and in late June divulged details of the more utilitarian (but still stylish) Twizy Cargo EV. That $10,000 model is available in five- and 17-horsepower versions and is said to be able to go as far as 50 miles on a single charge. Check out Renault's press release below.

The French Riviera by Twizy

Twizy, the new "must have" of the summer! Avant-garde design, fun to drive, 100% electric and easy to recharge, Twizy has charmed the big-name merchants of Saint-Tropez and their customers. And its playful appeal on the French Riviera is being felt in the Paris region, too.

Like Austin's Mini-Moke and Citroën's Mehari in the 70s, more and more Twizy are driving along the beaches and through the trendiest seaside resorts on the French Riviera. A cinch to park and a snap to recharge, the easy-to-handle vehicle is perfect for zipping to the beach, boutique hopping or going out in the evening alone or as a couple.

The coolest ride on the road? A customized Twizy sporting the white and red colors of the town of Saint Tropez. Thirty local merchants and major brands symbolizing Saint Tropez received the keys to their Twizy on July 1 in the presence of the mayor, who has made a commitment to sustainable mobility. Thirty Twizy vehicles featuring the colors of the renowned resort and the logo of our partners are now bringing a bold and breezy look to local streets.

This new trend on the French Riviera is also making waves in the Paris region. The Renault Z.E. center, which offers a unique opportunity to test drive the brand's zero-emission vehicles, is also donning seaside colors. People in the Paris area will be able to try out Twizy in a chic, summer ambience at the center's test track.

Come and drive a Twizy and relax in our lounge bar between July 14 and August 9 at the Z.E. center, on Ile Seguin in Boulogne-Billancourt.
