Volvo announces new 2.4L 5-cylinder diesel for S80

Over in Europe, Volvo's top end model - the S80 - will be getting a new engine option this year in the form of a new 2.4L five cylinder diesel. This engine replaces an existing one with the same displacement and configuration. The new engine has an aluminum block and cylinder head and most of the latest in diesel technology. Fuel is delivered directly to the combustion chambers via a 26,000 psi common rail injection system with piezoelectric injectors.
